ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are campaigning for a better world. Their strategy tackles the unacceptable truth that poverty and injustice remain deeply entrenched in many neglected parts of the globe. They prioritise their work into six key themes: HIV & AIDS, food and hunger, women's rights, the right to education, the right to human security and the right to just governance.

Centre for Global Education

The Centre for Global Education (CGE) was established in 1986 by eight development agencies to provide education services that will enhance awareness of international development issues. Its central remit is to challenge dominant stereotypes and commonly held perceptions of developing countries which are prevalent in our society. It aims to use education as a means of challenging the causes of poverty and inequality in both local and global contexts by working with all sectors of education.

Children in Crossfire

Children in Crossfire is an Irish international NGO based in Derry and works in strategic partnership with Concern Universal. Concern Universal and Children in Crossfire have a well-established track record of successful collaboration at an international level.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland. It works wherever the need is greatest – irrespective of religion or race.

Development Education

The Development Education website is a development and human rights education resource maintained by a group of organisations and NGOs based in Ireland. The site contains a wide range of materials covering a broad range of issues and challenges. It presents background papers, teaching materials and ideas, cartoons, photographs, a glossary of key terms, etc.

Development Education Association

Development education aims to raise awareness and understanding of how global issues affect the everyday lives of individuals, communities and societies and how all of us can and do influence the global.

Development Education Exchange in Europe Project

DEEEP is a 3-year programme that aims to increase the capacity of European NGDOs to deliver grassroots Development Education (DE) via methodological exchange, training, improved networking, elaboration of common policies and common projects.

Global Campaign for Education

Global Teacher Project

The World Studies Trust Global Teacher Project ran from 1999 to 2005. It worked with Initial Teacher Education and Training providers around the UK, to support the inclusion of a global dimension in course content, and to promote global education throughout the training of teachers. The Project ran courses for student teachers, helped teacher trainers develop new course content and modules, provided resources, ran 3 national conferences and produced a book which shows how the global dimension can enhance and complement the QTS Standards in Initial Teacher Education and Training.

Media Initiatives for Children

The Peace Initiatives Institute (Pii), located in Colorado, USA, developed the concept of using Media Initiatives For Children (MIFC) to teach young children the value of respecting and including others who are different from themselves. MIFC combine mass media and classroom experience to produce measurable change in the attitudes and behaviours of young children living in areas of conflict. By helping to shape young children's values and, ultimately, their perspective and actions as adults, the full impact of MIFC on a cultural conflict may not be evidenced for decades.

Oxfam’s Cool Planet for Teachers

Cool Planet is primarily intended for teachers in England, Scotland and Wales and their students. It aims to bring the global dimension to the classroom, using the concept of Global Citizenship.

Save The Children UK

Save The Children fights for children in the UK and around the world who suffer from poverty, disease, injustice and violence. Its works with them to find lifelong answers to the problems they face.

SERVE: development and education initiative

SERVE was founded in 2003 following the return to Ireland of a project group of 12 young people, from the Philippines, after a 9 week mission exposure project. Since then, SERVE has developed and expanded its Volunteering Projects to continue the good work it began in the Philippines and to expand its reach to other Redemptorist-run projects throughout the developing world.
