Mic léinn lán Ghaeilge ag ceiliúradh scoth-chleachtais

Thug mic leinn agus léachtóirí lán-Ghaeilge cuairt ar Scoil Harberton, Béal Feirste, i mí na Samhna, 2008, mar chuid den mhodúl lán-Ghaeilge i mBaitsiléir an Oideachais. Is léir ó aoibh an gháire ar aghaidheanna na mac léinn gur bhain siad as-sult as an chuairt spreagúil sin. Rinne an Príomhoide, an t-Uas. McGlade, cur i láthair ionspioráideach do na mic léinn sular thug siad cuairt ar na ranganna. Bhí deiseanna acu am a chaitheamh i gcuideachta saineolaithe oideachais na scoile, ag breathnú na straitéisí cruthaitheacha atá forbartha ag daltaí chun castachtaí a bhaineann le dísléics, uathachas, agus dúshláin eile a shárú. Chaith beirt mhac leinn ceoil ón ghrúpa, maidin an-ghníomhach le comhordaitheoir ceoil, i mbun oibre agus spraoi. Spreag an chuairt seo díospóireacht an-dearfach i measc na mac léinn, ó pheirspictíocht múinteoirí lán-Ghaeilge amach anseo.

Irish-medium students celebrate excellence

Irish-medium lecturers and students visited Harberton School, Belfast, in November 2008, as part of the Irish-medium module for Year 4 in the B. Ed. Degree. Clearly, the students found the visit to be stimulating and enjoyable. School Principal, Mr. McGlade, gave an inspiring presentation to the students before they visited classes. They had opportunities to spend time with educational specialists at Harberton, observing the creative strategies developed with pupils to overcome challenges posed by dyslexia and autism. Two of the music students from the group spent a very active morning with the music coordinator, engaged in music-based activities. As future Irish-medium teachers, the discussion and reflections by students following the visit were very positive.

Mic léinn Lán-Ghaeilge i mBun Breathnuithe Córasacha ar an Luathlitearthacht

Bhain na daltaí agus na mic léinn sult agus tairbhe as an mhaidin a chaith siad i gcuideachta a chéile. Is iar-mhic léinn lán-Ghaeilge ó Choláiste Ollscoile Naomh Muire iad múinteoirí na scoile, Caoimhe Ní Dhonnaile agus Máirín Uí Bheatha. Ba mhór an t-ábhar bróid agus misnigh dúinn iad a fheiceáil mar mhúinteoirí nuacháilithe, i dtimpeallacht spreagúil na scoile.

Irish-medium B.Ed. students engaged in systematic observation of early literacy achievement

B.Ed.4 students visited Bunscoil Ghleann Darach, Cromlin, November, 2008, where they had the opportunity use Marie Clay’s early literacy assessment tool, redeveloped into Irish (ÁML). Students carried out the 6 observation tasks, designed by Prof. Clay, with pupils from P2, 3 and 4. Both pupils and students enjoyed their morning together. Classroom teachers, Caoimhe Ní Dhonnaile and Máirín Uí Bheatha are recent Irish-medium graduates from St Mary’s University College. It was a great source of pride and encouragement to us to see these newly qualified teachers in their dynamic school environment.
